Reporting to the president, the industrial automation technician specializing in programming develops and programs automated systems. Combining meticulous attention to detail with strong analytical skills, he ensures that finished products function properly. He contributes to a variety of projects and is responsible for ensuring that equipment operates effectively in accordance with customer specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Program, conduct internal testing, and commission the system at the customer’s site (PLC, SCADA, and HMI)
- Participate in the analysis to fully understand user needs and develop a programming plan
- Produce technical manuals related to the projects
- Transfer technological information to customers
- Perform various upgrades and troubleshooting tasks on existing or new systems
- Troubleshoot equipment in operation
- Respond to service calls and travel to job sites to diagnose problems with machinery, electrical equipment, or other systems
- Perform other duties related to the role of instrumentation technician as needed
- Any other related tasks
Required qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of experience
- Knowledge of the following software: Microsoft SQL, SCADA, and other programming software
- DEP in Electromechanics and/or
- DEC in Industrial electronics and/or
- DEC in Instrumentation and Control and/or
- DEP in Electrical Engineering and/or
- Any combination of education and equivalent experience
